Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles delighted Chelsea scouts after his game-winning performance for Napoli against Roma under Jose Mourinho.
Following his game-winning effort against Roma in Serie A on Sunday, October 23, scouts for Chelsea are said to be considering a deal for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
After fending off former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, the Super Eagles striker scored in the victory at Stadio Olimpico by hitting a half-volley in the 80th minute.
Despite missing some games due to injury, Osimhen has amassed an outstanding four goals in seven league appearances thus far.
According to Calciomercato.com, his form has caused Chelsea to scout him and they have been “sent crazy” by him.
According to the source, the Blues will be interested in signing the striker. However, it will be difficult to pry him away from Napoli because club president Aurelio De Laurentiis would want at least £87 million for his prized possession.
The 23-year-old joined the Naples club in 2020 after a deal with Ligue 1 team Lille was reached that might have cost £69.4 million.
Newcastle and Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in the striker, so Chelsea will have competition for his services.
Should the club’s exiled star Cristiano Ronaldo leave, the Red Devils will need another forward.
However, Graham Potter’s team may have a secret weapon in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly, a former captain of Napoli, who joined the club in the summer. Osimhen might be interested in reuniting with his former teammate.
The 33-year-old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not getting any younger, and Armando Broja is still a very youthful prospect, making the Nigerian the perfect substitute for Chelsea.
Since Napoli is focused on winning their first Scudetto in three decades and is presently leading the table by three points over reigning champions AC Milan, the Napoli striker has not yet participated in transfer rumours.
