Christian leaders demand to know Status Of Buhari’s Health

 

The Association of Southern Nigeria Christian Elders’ Forum (SON¬CEF) has called on the federal government to know the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

The group made it known that, even though the Nigerian populace is praying for the President, it is also important that his health status is known.

 

“We, however, call on the federal government to fully disclose the health status of His Excellency Muhammdu Buhari, considering that he is occupying an exalted public office,” a communiqué issued after SONCEF’s meeting read in parts.

 

In a statement signed by its Chairman and the Secretary, Felix Ekiye said, the Christian elders “are disturbed by the unstable state of the nation as a result of different agitations, threats and quit notices.

 

Ekiye further pressed on with a plea,

“We urge the governors and members of the National Assembly to speak and act boldly to defend and protect the citizens. We note that the redemption of Nigeria now does not only require mere meetings and simple prayers, it requires concerted actions”.

 

The Christian body also condemned the merging of Christian Religious Knowledge with National Values and Ethics in the curriculum of schools.

 

“We warn that any such surreptitious act could adversely affect the unity and stability of Nigeria”.

 

Meanwhile, today marks the 60th day since the president traveled for his UK health vacation. President Buhari left through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on May 7th, 2017 for a Medical vacation in the UK.

Since then, the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been in charge of the administration of the Country as the acting President.

 

Speaking sometimes in April, Malam Abba Mato, the man who called for prayers for the president said, the president’s health state worry him. He said the circumstance surrounding President Buhari’s is similar to that of late Umaru Yar’Adua who was also from the same state. He however said.

 

“Again, his sickness is normal considering his age – over 70 years”
