Dailyfamily.ng look at some of the misconceptions about the ancient town

Ibadan town is outdated or dead town. This statement might seem harsh, but many people have used it in reference to the city of the famous old brown roofs.

The statement simply means the town is boring and there are no exciting or even just fun activities to keep visitors and inhabitants occupied for leisure. But these are not true.

There are various tourist attractions to visit such as Ibadan Recreation Centre, Cultural Centre of Mokola, Liberty Stadium, Bower Memorial Tower , Palace of the Olubadan, Dugbe Market, Cocoa House, University of Ibadan Zoo, etc.

There are no hanging out places at nightlife.
Sometimes some of your friends who lived in another town might say this to you “what are you doing in that boring town, that dead zone where there is no social life at night, where they sleep by 6pm”. Although Ibadan is not like Lagos, Abuja or even Port Harcourt, Ibadan people are well cultured that is why they do all modern things in a coded way so that it will not tarnish their image.

It is used to indicate where a person comes from. But recently with the advent of civilization, the tribal mark trend has waned, so very few people still have the tribal marks on them. However, people now refer to anyone with a ‘Yoruba-like’ tribal mark as ‘from Ibadan’.
This is a misconception, many towns and villages still given their children the marks.
