Court Finds Two Men With Many Wives And Children Guilty Of Polygamy

Two Canadian men, James Oler and Winston Blackmore, have been affirmed guilty by the court for practicing Polygamy. Blackmore currently has 25 wives and 145 children, while 53-year-old James Oler was married to five women. Oler’s number of children is unknown.

In defence, Blackmore and James who are 60-year-old and 53-year-old respectively said they are only practicing their religion.

According to Metro.co.uk, Winston Blackmore was married to 25 wives and had 145 children while 53-year-old James Oler was married to five women. Oler’s number of children is unknown. They both live in a tiny community of Bountiful in British Columbia

Blackmore said: “I’m guilty of living my religion and that’s all I’m saying today because I’ve never denied that.”

Blackmore and Oler belong to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is a breakaway from the Mormon church.
