The son of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Abubakar has been granted an interim custody of his two children, by Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye of a Tinubu Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday, to allow them to complete their third term in their present school in Lagos.

In her ruling, Magistrate Ayeye held that the children should be in their father’s custody from yesterday (November 1) until January 10, 2018.

She gave this order at the resumed hearing which was initially adjourned on October 18, following a child custody suit filed by the children’s mother, Fatima Bolori.

During the proceedings, Aminu pleaded with the court to allow the kids live in his Lagos home until the next hearing of the suit.

He told the court that he had paid his children’s school fees for the entire year.

However, Chief Magistrate Ayeye ordered Aminu to write a letter to his children’s school introducing his children’s mother, Fatima and permitting her unhindered access to the children in their school, at any time she wished to see them.

The court also told Aminu to allow the children spend weekends, public holidays, including Christmas holidays, with Fatima, whenever she was in Lagos.

Magistrate Ayeye also ordered him to hand over both children’s international passports to their mother’s custody.

Earlier before the hearing, the children entered the courtroom in custody of their mother. They played for a few minutes with their father, who had been there much earlier. At 2 p.m., the parties moved to the judge’s chambers and hearing commenced.

However, a few minutes later, the estranged couple’s daughter walked out of the magistrate’s chambers in tears. She was however consoled by a lawyer before she returned to the room.

The case has however been adjourned until January 10, 2018.
