Doctor dragged to court for giving fake pills to patients

A 28-year-old quack doctor, Yusuf Abdullahi was dragged to Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Friday for allegedly giving poisonous pills to his patients.

The suspect who resides at Mile 12 area of Ketu, Lagos, is facing three counts of conspiracy, administration of fake pills and breach of public peace.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Romanus Uniugbe earlier told the court that the accused and one other, still at large, committed the offence in September at Mile 12 Market, Kosofe Local Government Area, Lagos State.

Uniugbe said the accused operated an illegal hospital, where he admitted patients, carried out surgical operations and administered dangerous pills, the practice, which had resulted in the death of innocent people.

The prosecutor, further explained that intelligence report revealed that the accused and his accomplice, who had no qualifications or licenses, had been operating in the area of Ketu for a while.

‘’Abdullahi conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace while defending his practice as a medical practitioner,’’ he said.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The president, magistrate, Mr Adewale Ojo granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
