There was a mild drama in Adamawa as the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa allegedly beat up his police orderly.
The police orderly who is a sergeant attached to him was said to have been physically assaulted by the Speaker.
The Public Relations Officer of the Police, DSP Othman Abubakar confirmed the issue.
According to an eyewitness, the sergeant complaints about the non-payment of his salary enraged the speaker.
The eyewitness told newsmen that the speaker grabbed the sergeant and repeatedly slapped him until other security men came to his rescue.
He added “The dazed sergeant was rescued by a civil defence man who had to remind the speaker that he was beating up a policeman,” the witness said.
The PRO also said that the commander in charge of Yola Area Command was handling the matter.
However, he added that all attempts to talk to the speaker prove abortive, as he did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him.
