Drama at Nigerian airport as cows took over runway, prevents aircraft from landing

It was a dramatic moment on Saturday at Akure airport in Ondo State as cows took over the runway of the airport, preventing an Air Peace flight from landing.
Reacting to this incident the Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose who witnessed the incident took to his Twitter page to vent his anger.
Governor Fayose wrote: “Today, while at the Akure Airport to board Air Peace commercial flight to Lagos, I witnessed cows taking over the Airport runway and preventing Aircraft No. 5NBQQ from landing for more than 15 minutes. Thanks to Capt Inyang for saving the lives of the passengers.”
“Honestly, this is not the time for the President to go to Daura to rest. Rather, he should be on his feet seeking solution to the security problems threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.”
Air Peace Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Chris Iwarah, confirmed the incident.
According to Mr Iwarah, flight P4 7002 from Lagos had to delay landing into Akure Airport
after the pilot sighted cows on the runway at about 12.15pm.
Aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN AVSEC) were alerted and they quickly intervened and cleared the runway.
Iwarah said the flight was cleared to land after about 7 minutes.
Honestly, this is not the time for the President to go to Daura to rest. Rather, he should be on his feet seeking solution to the security problems threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.
