Drug Abuse by Married Women and Young Girls In Borno State on the rise- NDLEA
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has revealed that the rate of drug abuse in Borno State especially among married women and young girls is very high.
Mr. Iweajunwa Joseph, NDLEA Borno state commander said drug abuse in Borno state does not involve young boys and girls alone but married women too. He mentioned that the drugs these group of people abuse mostly is Tramadol and cough syrups with codeine.
He explained that these drugs are taken to boost energy and the abuse of cough syrups containing codeine has left a lot of lives seriously damaged.
He said between the first six months of the year, 336kg of drugs like Cannabis, Tramadol, Diazepam, Exol, Cocaine, Heroin, Rohypnol, as well as cough syrups with codeine, were impounded from various abusers while 248 suspects were arrested.
