Exclusive: Plantain market badly affected by Nigeria’s economy-‘Booli’ seller

Dailyfamily.ng gathered that despite being in the season of plantain, the food product seem to be expensive in the market.

Mrs Love Agbede

A trader who sells roasted plantain ‘Booli’ at Ikeja, Lagos confirms this claim as she spoke to our reporter. The booli seller, Mrs Love Agbede said it is true this is the season of plantain but it is expensive.

Mrs Agbede who spoke in Yoruba said: “our customers don’t know what we face when buying plantain but they keep telling us that we are in the plantain season.”

Mrs Agbede blamed the cost of plantain on the economy, she said: “Those that sell plantain to us always complain about the cost of transportation and the charcoal we use to roast the plantain is also now expensive.”

The booli seller mentioned that the size of Booli that she sells for #80 before is now sold for #150 after adding up the cost of making it.
