Menopause, also known as the climacteric, is the time in most women’s lives when menstrual periods stop permanently, and they are no longer able to bear children. However, experts at Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State has debunked this claim, saying women, even at menopause could still bear children.
One of the experts, Dr. Omuku Samuel, a gynecologist told Daily Family that oestrogen of such women that were lost could be regenerated medically to keep them healthy and strong to bear child again.
‘‘The IVF process is not difficult. It is normally carried out with the help of doctors. The process is by joining the female and male sperms together; this can help the persons to have many kids as they want.”
‘‘I am advising women with menopause not to lose hope because IVF can make them to reproduce children again”, Samuel said.
Menopause typically occurs between 49 and 52 years of age. Medical professionals often define menopause as having occurred when a woman has not had any vaginal bleeding for a year. It may also be defined by a decrease in hormone production by the ovaries.
In those who have had surgery to remove their uterus but they still have ovaries, menopause may be viewed to have occurred at the time of the surgery or when their hormone levels fell.
