A Nigerian father, Habibu Bala has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his five day old son with insecticide in Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi state.

According to reports, Bala confessed to killing the baby, he said: because “I have no money to organise naming ceremony for the child.”
Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kamal Abubakar, confirmed the arrest while speaking to newsmen.
DSP Abubakar said the case was reported at the Ningi Police Station by a brother to the suspect, Musa Bala on the same day the incident occurred, he revealed that his younger brother killed his newborn son by feeding him insecticide.
Musa said: “As a result the baby became unconscious and was later taken to Ningi General Hospital, where a medical doctor certified him dead.”
