Brazilian professional footballer and former AC milan and Real Madrid midfielder, Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite popularly known as Kaka has announced that he is retiring from football.

Kaka wrote on his Twitter handle: “It was much more than I could ever imagined. Thank you! I’m now ready for the next journey. In Jesus name. Amen.”

The outstanding footballer and 2007 ballon do’r winner announced this year that he would not renew his contract with Orlando City but he opened the door to a possible return to Milan, the club where he became so famous.

“I will like to participate in the club in another way, as a manager, a sporting director, as someone who is between the pitch and the club,” he said while responding to a farewell interview with Globo TV in Brazil.

“I prepared very hard to be a professional footballer and I want to prepare for this new role.”

He further noted that AC Milan, with whom he won the Champions League in 2007, offered him a role but wouldn’t state the exact nature of the job or say if he would accept it.

Similarly Sao Paulo have offered him a playing contract to extend his career. But the ‘crazy’ Jesus lover said the time was ripe for him to call it a day.

The Brazilian skilled midfielder made his professional club debut at 18 then at São Paulo FC in Brazil in 2001.
