Fraud: Ex-NNPC boss, Andrew Yakubu landed in kuje prison
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that Mr. Andrew Yakubu be remanded at the Kuje Prison over fraud charges leveled against him.
Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), appeared before the court on Thursday, March 16.
Presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in giving the order, said that Yakubu should be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his bail application on March 21.
Yakubu was, on Thursday, charged with six counts of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) due to the recovery of $9.8 million and £74, 000 from his house in Kaduna.
However, He pleaded not guilty to the charge filed by the EFCC.
Meanwhile, Yakubu has sued the EFCC for N1 billion over the seizure of the money which he said was given to him as gifts while he was heading the NNPC.
The money was recovered from Yakubu’s property in the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna on February 3, 2017.
