For the celebration of this year’s Easter, the Federal Government has declared Friday, 14th and Monday, 17th April as Public Holidays.

Easter celebration will commence on Friday, 14th April, with a Service by all Christians in what is generally known as “Good Friday” all through Monday 17, which is referred to as Easter Monday by Christians.

Good Friday, the day generally believed by all Christians that  Jesus was Crucified by Roman Soldiers.

The Easter celebration is usually preceded by Forty days of Fasting by Christians, the fasting usually start on a Wednesday known as Ash Wednesday and it will end Forty days later.

The declaration was made today by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), on behalf of the Federal Government.

While Making the announcement on behalf of the Nigerian government, the minister of interior Abdulrahman Dambazzau called on Christians to extend the spiritual benefits of Easter among all Nigerians.

He said the benefits are love, peace, justice, sacrifice and kindness which must be extended to their daily living, and through this contribute to unity and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.

Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), further urged Nigerians to co-operate and join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained efforts to build a strong and virile nation.

Dambazzau further wished all Nigerians a Happy Easter celebration.
