For the past two weeks, many states in Nigeria had been experiencing scarcity of petrol product, it is now the turn of Oyo state to experience the scarcity of the product as many filling stations in the state were closed down.

It was gathered that the scarcity of the petrol product in the state started on Sunday as many filling stations refused to sell their product.

This has reduced the influx of people into the state due to fuel hike as many families are still hoping to receive their loved ones coming from other states to celebrate the yuletide them.

Dailyfamily.ng visited some of the filling stations in Ibadan, it was discovered that many stations either locked up their entrances or refused to sell the product to customers.

There are long queues in some filling stations that are selling to their customers.

Transportation within the Ibadan metropolis is now high due to the scarcity of petrol product in the state.

Transportation fairs that were #50, #80 and #100 are now #70,#100 and #150 respectively.

For instance from Sango in Ibadan to Iwo road which is between #70 and #80 before is now #100 to #120 while from Iwo road to Alakia, and toll gate axis is now #150

Many commuters were seen stranded at various bus stops while some are working to their respective destination as they cannot afford to pay the transport fairs.

Speaking with dailyfamily.ng, a metropolitan taxi driver commonly known as ‘Micra driver’ Mr. Taofeek Ibrahim said, they have started to perceive the scarcity of the petrol product since Sunday evening as many stations refused to sell the product with no reason.

Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were seen passing vehicles to clear the heavy traffic gridlock on the high way.

This may not mean well for many who are planning to return home and spend nice time with their families in Oyo state this festive period after a long stay in other states like Lagos in search of greener pasture.
