Fuel scarcity: Oyo State yet to experience long queue

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Wednesday gave the Minister of State for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and the Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporate, NNPC, Maikanti Baru the matching order to clear the queues in the filling stations across the country.

Despite assurances that scarcity of petrol would not be experienced in the country, some filling stations in major areas of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital have ceased selling the product to their customers.

Some stations visited by dailyfamily.ng, in Ibadan metropolis complained of poor or inadequate supply while stations at Idi Ape and Challenge disclosed that they have sufficient product for their customers.

No official reason was given by those who did not attend to their customers.

 

An official at NNPC mega station at Ojoo Express Road, Ibadan who pleaded anonymity alleged that those who had no supply failed to discharge their financial obligations to their source of supply.

A driver who spoke with dailyfamily.ng said, ” I am only hearing of the rumour, imminent scarcity of the fuel.
If there is, we shall know what step to take, no problem at all.”

A motorcycle raider popular called Okada, who simply identified himself as Joseph Ifesanmi said “we are yet to experience the scarcity of fuel in Ibadan but we heard that in some states there are long queues.

“It had become usual thing in Nigeria during Christmas and new year period there is always scarcity of petroleum in the country, but our prayer is that this year should be different, he said.”
