FUOYE students protest against the new Dean of Students’ Affairs, Malomo
As at 7 am this morning, the 24th of July 2017, the students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) started a protest with road blocks at the school gate against the management of the School about the appointment of Dr. Malomo as the new Dean of Students Affairs.
According to reports from an eyewitness, the major reasons that led to the protest are the delay in giving the 100 level and Direct entry students their matriculation numbers despite that they are about writing their 2nd-semester examinations.
Another reason that caused the protest is the removal of the former Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Adeyemi which the students claim was close to the Student Union Government. The claim of the students was that he was removed even though his tenure was supposed to end next year March.
The appointment of Dr. Malomo known as MALOO as the new Dean of Student Affairs despite his controversial tenure as the ASUU chairman is the major reason for the protest as students claimed he has a cordial relationship with the Vice Chancellor of the School.
However, it was noted that there are so many unmentioned cases of the School depriving both staffs and students the Parity of their Rights. All efforts to speak to the students by the security were futile as they await principal officials.
