Catfish is a very delicious fish to eat and it offers various health benefits as well. It supplies protein to the body and boosts your intake of vitamins, healthy fats, and fatty acids. These are the health benefits you can derive from eating catfish:
It Supplies Adequate Protein
The amount of protein catfish provides when eaten gives the body all of the amino acids it needs. Adequate protein helps the body build lean muscle mass, and it also helps improve the effectiveness of immune function. Proteins also provide energy, especially after the body has used all of the carbohydrates you have eaten for fuel.
 It Contains Low Calories and Fat
It contains low amount of calories which make it a common choice for a healthy meal plan so it fits in well and several healthy meals can be served with it. The fat content is also very low, and contains little of saturated fat.
It Has Low Mercury
Catfish is one of the fish with low mercury as almost all fish contains mercury.  Mercury is a contaminant that may affect the nervous system, except if the water that produce the catfish is high in mercury, catfish contains low mercury.
A good Source of Vitamin B-12
Eating a plate of catfish provides 40 percent of the daily recommended intake of vitamin B-12. This vitamin in catfish helps your body breakdown foods into usable energy. Enough vitamin  B-12 in your food will help your nerve function properly.

Catfish have high levels of magnesium which play important role in health, it aids the regulation of the body’s glucose levels, the synthesis of protein and nucleic acid and the conversion of food to cellular energy. Catfish provide potassium to the body which is vital for maintaining appropriate electrolyte levels and it contributes to nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction and healthy heart function. Catfish provides magnesium, zinc and iron to the body.
