Health benefits of brisket bone popularly known as ‘biscuit bone’ in Nigeria
Brisket bone has been known in Nigeria for ages, despite the fact that it is mostly called biscuit bone. The reason for calling it biscuit bone in Nigeria is because it is easy to crack when eating compared to the other edible bones.
Just like the nutrients we get from cracking other meaty bones, the reason most people consume brisket bone is that it contains a high amount of calcium. Calcium helps to strengthen the bones in the body and the gum of the teeth.
It is a general belief in Nigeria that eating biscuit bone after boiling it, your bones become stronger than before. This is why some mothers after buying beef ask the butcher for brisket bone that they prepare for their young ones.
Apart from Calcium, Brisket bones also contain some amount of fat that is useful to the body.
