Help! My husband said I should quit my job. What should I do?

Hi readers, below is a story sent to Matters of the heart on dailyfamily.ng for publication and advice by Mrs. Joy (not real name). She got married two years ago, and now, she is currently in a tight corner as her husband asked her to choose between her career and her marriage, please advise her on what to do.

Hello,

Is this how marriage is? I got married two years ago, we are blessed with a boy. At first, our marriage seems to be a heaven on earth but now it is a duplicate of hell.

My husband has vowed not to allow peace in the house until I resign from my job, he said he does not want me to work anymore that I should stay at home and be taking care of our child.

Since this issue started our house has become a battlefield. Now he has given me two months to decide on which one to take, my job or my marriage.

I love my banking job and at the same time, I don’t want to lose my home.

Please, what should I do? Help, I am confused!

Joy, PH

Please Dear,

You need prayers because marriage comes with its own challenges. What is his reason for quitting his job, why can’t you get a maid to care for the child in your absence? To be honest, I have been in this same condition before, I didn’t quit my job, there’s this joy and fulfilment in working. You might end up frustrated. Tell him to start up a business for you.

You will practically be at his beck and call, your ability to do help your friends, family will be adversely affected. DO NOT LEAVE THAT JOB. You can get a better one that allows you time to care for the family.

Best Regards,
