Horrific view of Sunday attack on worshippers at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Anambra by gunmen[Video]
St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu located in Ekusigo local government area of Anambra state was attacked on Sunday and several persons have been reportedly killed by gunmen.
The attackers and their motive have not been established but security operatives are said to have swung into action as investigations have begun.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Willie Obiano has called for calm and he has also visited the scene of the attack to commiserate with the parishioners.
Governor Obiano has condemned the attack and promised to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. Garba Baba Umar, the Commissioner of police in the state, also confirmed the attack.
An eyewitness reportedly said: “A clearer version of the incident from the eye witness box revealed that the gunmen came to assassinate Bishop (drug lord) and his father but couldn’t find them in their house went into the church built by the same Bishop to hunt for their targets.
“On their arrival in the church, they put off the generator supplying power to the church and started shooting sporadically searching for their targets..
“My take is that the influence of amphetamine and other hard substances at work… When we advise our fellow youths to stay away from hard substances and other harmful practices.”
