How to clean the TV screen without damaging the TV
Finally, the weekend has come and you’re ready to do a series marathon sitting on the couch, curled up on the deck and eating popcorn! After all, sometimes all we want is to get some rest.
The setting may seem very cozy – until you realize that the TV screen is full of dust and fingerprints and you are forced to clean the unit.
As popular as televisions are, few people actually know how to clean the screen safely, without running the risk of damaging the device. Just go through Google: you will find a plethora of TV cleaning tips, but they are not always reliable.
There is only one way to ensure that the chosen cleaning method will not spoil your device, and this is to consult the manufacturers recommendations. After all, it would be very annoying to lose the warranty of your brand new TV because you ended up spoiling the screen by applying an inappropriate cleaning product, right?
Safe cleaning
Manufacturers of LCD and LED TVs are unanimous with regard to the cleaning method of the appliances: the best way to remove dust and light dirt from your television without causing damage is to use only a dry, soft cloth that must be wiped gently on the screen . Some brands provide a suitable cloth for cleaning with the appliance. For the corners, you can use a cotton swab.
If you encounter some kind of dirt that is costing you to leave the screen, do not rub the cloth with more force as this may damage the surface and impair the display of the images. In this case, you can sprinkle the cloth with clean water and wipe it on the screen with gentle movements, always following the same direction (from right to left, for example).
Among the major TV manufacturers (Samsung, Phillips, Philco, Sony and LG), most recommend that no cleaning products be used on the device screen, especially abrasives. This means that you should not even pass the popular white vinegar or the window wipe.
The exception to the rule is the LG manufacturer: according to the manual of one of your models, you can apply a little neutral detergent on the cloth to wipe the screen. ATTENTION : If you have an LG TV, always check your device’s manual before using detergent to clean the glass, as the instructions may vary depending on the model.
Other care when cleaning the TV screen
An important tip is that you should never apply water or detergent directly onto the screen as they may leak into the apparatus and damage its internal components or even cause a fire. Also, never use a damp cloth as the liquid may run down the edges of the screen.
Also, remember that we must not force persistent dirt on the cloth, nail or other object as this may cause a wrinkling or scratching of the screen, resulting in distortion of the image. Be patient and follow only with the cloth moistened with water.
There is no need to stress that before cleaning, your appliance must be unplugged to avoid the risk of electric shock.
