Pregnancy brings a lot of changes to a woman’s body but may never get her body back to pre-pregnancy shape if not managed properly.
Appetite for food increases for most women during pregnancy which would lead to weight gain characterised by big breasts, big belly, body fatness but to mention a few. However, your body may not get back in good shape if not managed well.
Here are ways to get yourself back in good shape after pregnancy.
1. Check your diet
The first thing you need to check if you want to get yourself back in good shape is your diet. During pregnancy and when breastfeeding, you must have gotten used to eating a lot. This is why you need to train yourself to start eating right and to regulate how much you eat.
2. Desist from eating Junk Foods
Eating junk food is a gateway to obesity especially adding fat to the belly. Such foods are generally unhealthy because of the high amount of fat, sugar and calories. Constant eating of these will make you fat and will become so hard to get yourself back in the right shape.
3. Breastfeed your baby frequently
According to Fit Pregnancy, breastfeeding your baby will help in burning at least 500 to 700 calories a day. This will help in weight loss.
Exercise may not be feasible for the first six months after delivery. However, it is recommended for a woman to do some exercise during her post-pregnancy period i.e when she is strong enough to do so in order to get her body back in shape.
You can do exercise by yourself or consult a fitness trainer for assistance and professional advice, especially if you gave birth through a Caesarian Session (CS).
Taking care of your new born, the home, work and other aspects can be very burdensome, this is why you need to rest.
Sheah Rarback, M.S., R.D., Director of Nutrition at the University of Miami, School of Medicine, said “Getting plenty of sleep has been shown to help with weight loss because you’re not compelled to binge on high-calorie, high-sugar foods for energy.”
A woman needs to maintain a good shape to feel right and to live a healthy life.
