JAMB football competition set to begin
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) sets for their first edition sponsored football competition among tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The competition which will begin on Monday, August 21 with eight matches on the draw card.
The opening ceremony will start by 2.00pm local time at the main Pitch of the University of Ilorin the capital of Kwara state.
Sixteen finalists from the six geo-political zones, which involves the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education are already in Ilorin for the competition.
In Group A, University of Agriculture, Makurdi VS Kaduna Polytechnic by 10.00am, Shehu Shagari College of Education VS Kwara State Ploytechnic by 12noon, all at the Main Pitch of the Kwara Football Academy.
Group B will play at the Main Pitch of the University of Ilorin, with Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa VS College of Education, Oro by 4.00pm, Delta State University VS College of Education, Ankpa by 10.00am.
Two Kwara qualifiers, Federal Polytechnic, Offa and the University of Ilorin will tango in the first match in Group C at Pitch 2, Kwara Football Academy, with Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu playing College of Education, Minna by 12noon.
The matches Group D will also be played by 10.00am and 12noon on Sunday.
Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic will take the centre stage against University of Nigeria, Nsuka, and Federal College of Education will play Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
All matches will be played in Nigerian time.
The Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), Kale Ayo said that everything has been put in place to ensure hitch-free competition.
The closing ceremony comes up on Saturday, August 26th, at the University of Ilorin.
