There was joy in Imo state as the Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Monday assured all the state’s workers that his administration will soon lift the ban on promotion when the ongoing reform in the system is completed.
Okorocha said this while addressing the workers at the Hero square Owerri on Workers’ Day. He said that the government was keen on knowing the status of those who would benefit from the proposed promotion exercise and also charged them to appreciate what his administration had done for them since it assumption in Office in 2011.
He reiterate to the workers that he was the first governor to pay N20, 000 as minimum wage against the approved N18, 000 and also paid wardrobe allowance, which has seen them today appearing in a special dress code, while also building Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres at the State Secretariat and local government headquarters to enable them become computer literate.
He reminded them that his government had to make sure there were no longer pressures on their salaries on the payment of school fees and that the workers were the great beneficiaries of the free edu¬cation program in the state.
