The Kano State government has targeted to immunize about two million children aged 9-months to five-years against measles in the ongoing immunization exercise.

Speaking on Sunday, November 12, at the launching of the vaccination in Albasu, Governor Umar Ganduje made this known.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Kabiru Getso, described measles as one of the dangerous diseases that affected children’s brain, eye and the heart.

“The Ganduje administration has made health a priority and has committed N73 million for the smooth conduct of the immunization in the state.’

He called on parents and guardians to ensure that they make their children available for the ongoing exercise. He also added that parents should keep their vaccination cards secured for record purpose.

Also represented at the event, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi ll, who was represented by Sarkin Yakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Aliyu, in his remark restated the emirate’s commitment to provide necessary support to ensure the success of the exercise.
