The first lady of Lagos state, Mrs Bolanle Ambode on Wednesday has called on women to embrace creative and innovative entrepreneurship skills to achieve a sustainable development within the family and in the communities.
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos ahead the 17th conference of the committee of Wives of Lagos state officials, Mrs Ambode said women being a helpmate were uniquely created with skills to impact positively their family, environment and the society.
According to her, the skills inherent in women can be extended to other facets of life.
“You will agree with me that women are blessed with creative skills that out of very little she creates something and she can even transform the little created to something bigger and better.

“Empowered women can become not only wage-earners but also job-creators and this is imperative for eradicating poverty in our nation.
“We, therefore, call on women who wish to make a difference for themselves and their families to adapt to new challenges and keep up with the changing times.
“This they can do by using whatever vocational skills they have to improve their economic status.

“We are also calling on government at all levels to invest in women’s economic empowerment to spur growth and development in the country,’’ she said.
Speaking ahead of the conference which will begin on the 24th of October through the 26th day of the same month at Eko Hotel and Suites, Mrs Ambode said the wife of the Vice President of Nigeria, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo would declare the conference open.
Other facilitators that will be in attendance will also discuss issues relating to women empowerment in Nigeria.
