After a hard day at work, the body is expected to be well pampered and one of the ways to pamper the body is to get a good sleep at night. In a bid to have good and quality sleep a lot of things must be avoided before bedtime.

Here are some of the things you must avoid and this will also work for anyone suffering from insomnia.

  1. Drinking before going to bed. Don’t take water an hour or 2 hours before going to bed in order to prevent visiting the toilet frequently. This can interrupt your sleep, so, you might need to avoid drinking water or any fluid late at night.
  2. Keep any gadget (Phones, Laptops etc) away from you. Gadgets disturb sleep and must be done away with if you want your brain to relax well after the long stressful day
  3. Don’t make reading before bedtime an habit. It is not good for you, you might need to do that daily before you will be able to sleep. It eventually turns you to an addict
  4. Have an appropriate and reliable time you go to bed. Don’t form an habit of sleeping at any time. This will help your  brain to prepare in accordance to the time.
  5. Stop eating late, ensure you have your dinner at least 2 hours before bedtime in order to help the food digest properly
  6. Stop sleeping on your back or stomach, rather sleep on your side to avoid any inconvenience to the body
  7. Don’t live a sedentary lifestyle. Depending on your daily schedule, pick an appropriate time to exercise your body. This helps you get sound sleep.

Sticking to these will make you live healthy and your brain can process sleep on its own without depending on any habit formed by you which could be addictive.
