LAUTECH Lecturers Suspends Strike After 8 Months
The Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology (LAUTECH) , Ogbomoso Lecturers have suspended their 8 months old strike after the Academic Staff Union Of University (ASUU) of the Institution held its Congress.
The Chairman of ASUU, LAUTECH Chapter, Dr Biodun Olaniran made this known on Wednesday, 22nd February, in Ogbomoso. This decision was as a result of the Congress held on Tuesday, 21st February.
It must be noted that the Lecturers embarked on the strike last year over unpaid salary and as well as the inability of the owner states (OYO and OSUN) to give them financial support.
Olaniran said, “After comparing the demands of the union and what the management has met out of the demands, and after extensive deliberations on the struggle so far, the union has resolved to suspend the strike immediately,”
LAUTECH Vice Chancellor, Prof. Seleiman Gbadegesin, recently told newsmen that the two owner state governments had paid N584 million out of the N7.6 billion they owed the institution.
With the situation now, students are expected to be fully on ground to continue with the session.
