Man arraigned in Court for alleged theft of N10m

A 32-year-old man, Benjamin Agbogu, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N10 million from a businessman yesterday.

Prosecutor, ASP Henry Obiazi, while speaking to the court said that the defendant and others still at large committed the alleged offences sometime in April 2016, at Festac Town, Lagos.

Agbogu is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, preferred against him by the Police. His occupation and residential address were however not stated.

Obiazi alleged that the defendant accosted the complainant, one Chukwu Chinedu and forcefully stole N10 million from him.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287 (5) (a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The magistrate, Mr B. A. Sonuga, granted him bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

The hearing was adjourned till December 5 for a mention.
