Man turned wife to goat, chained her to generator
A 37-year-old man, Ifeanyi Ajaero, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly battering and chaining his 28-year-old wife, Obiageli, to a generating set from nightfall till dawn like a goat.
The incident took place at Ewooluwo Sagamu in Sagamu Local government of the state.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect used hand-cuff to chain his wife who had become weak as a result of the severe beating.
“the people in the neighborhood who had witnessed frequent beatings of Obiagelli by her husband, alerted the police over the latest incident, consequent upon which the DPO of Sagamu division, SP Aduroja Moses, led his men to the scene, rescued the victim and got the suspect arrested,” Oyeyemi said
However, the police spokesperson noted that Ajaero admitted chaining the woman to a generator, but claimed his action was in self-defence.
Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, Has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
He described the suspect’s action as “an height of wickedness.”
