A burglar, Jimoh Dele, was given a 21-year prison sentence by Justice Olalekan Olatawura of the Ado Ekiti Division of the Ekiti State High Court for breaking into a store and stealing food goods worth N234,000.
The charge sheet claims that on May 11, 2020, Jimoh broke into a building at the Mobil Petrol Station, Waterworks, in the Ajilosun neighbourhood of Ado Ekiti, entered a shop owned by one Oluwayemisi Adeleye, and took items valued at more than N234,000.
The Criminal Code Law, Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, sections 413 and 390(9), according to the prosecutor during his trial, Kunle Adeyemo, were violated.

The complainant said the following in her police statement:
Two times in May 2020 and June 2021, burglars broke into my store and stole the goods and soup ingredients I was selling, including rice, semovita, wheat, and tomato paste, among others.
Sergeant Oladele Ayodeji, a police officer, testified in court that the defendant was taken into custody on November 19, 2021.
He also admitted to having taken part in the theft, burglary, and kidnapping, as well as breaking into the complainant’s store, during interrogation.

The presiding judge found Jimoh guilty and gave him a 14-year sentence on count one and a seven-year prison on count two as part of his ruling. The sentences will run concurrently, according to the judge.
