Man tells court He wants divorce Due To his neighbors’ advice
A man named Saheed Tijani has approached Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi in Ibadan, that he wants to divorce his wife, Afisat, following advice from his neighbors.
He testified before the court that his neighbors advised him to dissolve the marriage due to the disrespectful behavior of his 25-year-old wife who is also the mother of his six children. He mentioned that his wife did not only disrespect him but his mother also.
He also accused his wife of having extramarital affair with a carpenter that was hired by her to work on her new building.
According to Punch, Tijani told the court: “I have been enduring her since we married hoping that she would turn a new leaf but things get worse on daily basis. “Her bad character made my neighbors to advise me to divorce her; they even wanted to assist me financially to file the suit,’’ Tijani told the court.
The wife, Afisat, however, pleaded with the court not to dissolve her marriage as she still loves her husband, she also denied having extra-marital affair. She told the court that henceforth, she will respect her husband.
Chief Mukaila Balogun, the President of the court, adjourned the case till the 24th of this month and he appealed to Tijani, the plaintiff to allow the issue to be settled amicably.
