Manuel Neuer reveals he had undergone skin cancer surgery three times

Manuel Neuer, the goalkeeper for Bayern Munich, has admitted that he has had skin cancer on his face, which has necessitated three surgeries.

On November 1st, Neuer announced on Instagram that he had skin cancer and had recently purchased sunscreen with tennis player Angelique Kerber.

He said in the video: ‘We both have a history of skin diseases. In my case, skin cancer on my face, which required three surgeries. 

‘When it comes to sunscreen, we have therefore paid attention to maximum protection.

‘Since we train outside all the time and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is essential for us to start with modern sun protection filters and a sun protection factor of 50+. 

‘So we know for sure that we have a sunscreen that protects us continuously and with which hardly anything can burn.’

In December 2021, before Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against Barcelona, the 36-year-old was seen walking around with a conspicuous plaster on his face, according to Bild. This sparked rumours about a potential sickness.

Neuer still has the facial scar from his three surgical procedures to treat cancer.
