Mentally Deranged Family Receives Government’s Help (See Photos)
A family which has been tagged mentally deranged family in Ogoja, Cross-Rivers state have received Government’s help and are now being attended to.
The family of father, mother and three children live in a shanty in Ogoja area of Cross-Rivers state before their case got the attention of the public and the government.
The family are identified to be the family of one Mr and Mrs Ben Ogar and they are popularly known as the ‘Ogoja Mentally deranged couple’.
Story shared about the couple shows that Mr Ben lost his means of livelihood while staying in Abuja with two children six years ago and this led to mental disorder.
Mr Ben relocated his family to his hometown in Ogoja and has since been staying in a shanty and reports have it that his family took his two children from him when he started roaming the streets.
Mr Ben and his wife have produced three children within the past six years of roaming the street and in their mental state.
Cross-Rivers state government with the help of the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar has rescued the mentally deranged family from the streets to get them proper medical attention.
The husband, Mr Ben was found to be suffering from mental disorder and his wife suffering ‘folie a deux’ syndrome as a result of her husband’s ideation. The children, however, are in stable conditions.
Dr Inyang Asibong, Cross-Rivers State Commissioner for Health confirmed that the family are now responding to treatment as she revealed that they will be rehabilitated and reinstalled back to the society with the appropriate welfare.
