This was made known by the Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr when he was speaking with Kwese Sports on Thursday August 23, 2018.
The coach said the reason for Mikel Obi’s absence at the match which will be held on the 8th of September is because the player just recovered from an injury.
Rohr said:
“We spoke together. He is just coming back from injury and he needs to push his club commitments to get back in shape. After injury, he needs time to get fit again.”
There are speculations that the Super Eagles team may be greatly affected by Mikel’s absence as it is coming just after Victor Moses also opted out of playing for the Nation.
