MTN warns customers nationwide, see the reason why

by Daily Family

MTN Nigeria has warned its customers that the country’s nationwide insecurity may affect its service delivery.

According to Reuters, the telecom operator said it might witness an interruption in providing its telecommunication services in Africa’s most populous nation due to the continuing deterioration of insecurity,

“Sadly, we must inform you that with the rising insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, service delivery to your organisation may be impacted in the coming days,” MTN Nigeria wrote in a message seen by Reuters.

It added, “This means that in some cases, our technical support team may not be able to get to your site and achieve optimum turnaround time in fault management as quickly as possible.”

MTN runs Nigeria’s largest mobile phone network, which generates around a third of the company’s revenue. In its financial report for Q1 2021 reported by Nairametrics, the network provider’s data revenue grew by 43 percent year-on-year to N106 billion ($257 million), contributing to 28 percent of its total revenue.

MTN has 76.5 million active subscribers in Nigeria, with its active data users pegged at 32.6 million.

Nigeria is grappling with the continuing deterioration of insecurity characterised by deadly violence, kidnapping for ransom with bandits, and unknown gunmen often targeting secondary schoolchildren, higher institution students, rural and city dwellers as well as the destruction of public facilities.
