National Identification Cards are for people above 16 years – NIMC
The Head of Corporate Affairs Commission, of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Mr Loveday Ogbonna, has said the National Identification Cards(NIC) are only meant for people that have attained the age of 16 and above.
Ogbonna said that for any minor to be enrolled, he or she must be accompanied by his or her parent or guardian, who must have obtained NIC.
He further explained that any minor applying for the card must produce birth certificate, school admission letter or any other relevant school documents like the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Identity Card.
“Relevant documents proving the minor’s identity should be provided by the parents or guardian at the enrollment centre.
“The applicant’s parents or guardian must also provide his or her initially issued NIC slip or verification,” Ogbonna said.
