As the environment is becoming dry every day due to the dry season, the Ekiti state National Emergency Management Agency had warned residents against indiscriminate bush burning during the dry season to avert disaster.
Mr Saheed Akiode, the coordinator of NEMA in Ekiti gave the warning on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Akiode noted that some people imbibed the habit of indiscriminate bush burning as soon as the dry season sets in, saying such practice has resulted in the destruction of valuable property.
He also underscored the need to maintain a clean environment at all times to prevent the outbreak of diseases.
He advised the residents to utilise waste bins provided by the state government on every street.
