Newcastle to increase their ₦32.1 billion bid for Victor Osimhen
This summer, the Nigerian international has been linked with a departure from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, could be on his way to Newcastle, according to sources.
The Magpies are willing to spend around €70 million for Osimhen’s talents, according to transfer market specialist Nicolo Schira.
After being purchased by a group led by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign investment fund, Newcastle hopes to compete with Europe’s finest football clubs.
They showed their intentions in the January transfer window, but they aren’t finished yet. The Magpies are looking to sign the best players available, and Osimhen is one of them.
Newcastle and Fabian Ruiz were reportedly linked with a move for the Nigerian.
The Premier League team was willing to spend €70 million for the Nigerian, but a deal with Napoli could not be reached.
They’re now prepared to make a better offer for the 23-year-old this summer. They may, however, have difficulty persuading Napoli to surrender their most valuable player.
The Neapolitans paid €81.3 million to Lille for Osimhen in 2020, a club and African record amount, and have no plans to transfer the Nigerian. Despite missing two months of play this season, Osimhen has been crucial to Napoli’s Serie A title defence.
The Neapolitans are now second on the table, with Osimhen playing a key role. This season, the Super Eagles forward have 11 goals in 20 league games.
Napoli will not sell their talisman this summer because his current deal has three years left on it.
To fend off possible bidders, the Neapolitans are apparently considering extending the Nigerian’s contract with a higher income.
