A Mobile court in Ondo town has sentenced a newly wedded couple, Mr Oyewobi Julius, his wife Toyin and 35 other persons to three months imprisonment each for violating environmental laws.
They are facing a three-count charge of environmental sanitation offences during the November edition of the monthly sanitation which held across the state.
Prosecutor, Mrs. Adejoke Olarewaju, who is also a Principal Environmental Health Officer, (PEHO) said that the accused persons were found roaming the major streets of the area during the exercise.
According to her, the offence contravenes Section 17 (h) of Ondo State Environmental Sanitation Law of 2004 and punishable under same section.
She further added that the accused persons failed to participate in the exercise as required by the Environmental Sanitation Edict of 2004 and punishable under the same section.

In her ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Odenusi Fadeyi, sentenced each of the accused persons to three months imprisonment with hard labour or pay the options fine of N5, 000 on each of the count-charge.
