NSCDC evacuates body of teenage boy found floating on river

The body of a teenage boy who got drowned in a river in Oshogbo has been evacuated on Thursday by the Osun state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Disclosing the discovery to newsmen in Oshogbo, the spokesman of the command, Mr Babawale Afolabi said the remain of the boy was discovered by a farmer who was on his way to his farm.

He noted that the discovery of the incident was reported by the farmer at about 1pm to state command of NSCDC afterwhich the body was eventually removed by the crisis management unit of the corps.

Afolabi who noted that the body which was initially floating in the middle of the river was eventually moved to the bank by the command personnel while efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased.

” The teenager must have been dead for at least two or three days before his body floated on water.

“He should be of between the age of 14 and 15 years.

“We have contacted community leaders to help us to locate the parents of the deceased as well as arrange for his burial,” the spokesman said.
