It was a good news to a woman of 58-year-old who gives birth to twins at a time many considered as a closed case when it comes to procreation but this woman’s case was a rare one.

The twins, a boy and a girl, were born at 33 weeks gestation and spent three weeksat Culiacan’s Regional General Hospital Number 1. They had been receiving specialized treatment for several medical conditions, including low birth weight, but are now reported to be in good condition.

“Both Victoria Maria and her brother Víctor Manuel, who was born two minutes later, received specialized care in the neonatal intensive care unit for more than three weeks, in which they fought for their life,” a Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) spokesperson told El Mañana newspaper. Doctors said Victoria weighed 4 pounds, 3 ounces at birth, with Victor weighing just under 4 pounds, 1 ounce.
Their mother, whose identity was not disclosed, spent a month under observation by doctors until she gave birth by C-section.
“During the C-section I was very calm, trusting that God would make us the miracle, that everything would turn out well. And when I heard the children cry so hard, I was very pleased,” the woman told Milenio.
She and her babies were discharged earlier this week.
