Modern science has provided us with more ways to treat and control diabetes more than ever before, these include diet and lifestyle changes that can eliminate this deadly disease.

  1. Frequent need to urinate:

The abnormal and frequent need of a person to pass out urine may be an indication of diabetes. This is because as the body isn’t able to make use of the glucose present in the bloodstream, the kidneys then have to respond by removing the excess or extra glucose through urination, which causes one to visit the toilet frequently. Multiple urination at night is very common with people suffering from or developing type 2 diabetes.

2. Excess thirst:

Now that the kidney has to do a lot of work ridding the body of extra glucose in the blood, there is an increased level of liquid leaving flushed out of the body through urination, so there is a need to replace this lost liquid.

Since the body cannot absorb glucose, this tricks it into thinking that starvation is the major issue, thereby forcing the body to use protein from muscle tissue to fuel its energy need, resulting in weight loss.

Losing 20 to 30kg of body weight over a period of two to four months is abnormal.

4. Always famished (hungry):

The body is tricked into a perception that it is starving due to its inability to absorb the needed glucose in the bloodstream that it needs for energy, these triggers the excess need for food and the uncontrollable hunger.
