Over 1,000 houses have been destroyed and a life was lost following heavy downpours accompany by the windstorm in Kano State.
“The rainstorm blew off many houses roof in the affected villages,” said Malam Lawan Salisu one of the victims told NAN.
According to him the incident happened on Wednesday, it affected houses in Dannafake, iyatawa, kaniyaka, Tofa, Yadagungyme and Zagazagi. The owners of the houses destroyed now squat with friend and relatives.
He added that the vice chairman of Kura Local Government Area, Ali Isiyaku- Danhassan, visited the areas affected to sympathies with the victims. He also implores the state government to come to their aids in other to prevent further disaster.
Aliyu Bashir, the Executive Secretary of the state Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency, said the incidence is yet to be reported.
However, he assured that possible steps will be taken to relive the suffering of the affected victims in
their various villages.
