A grandmother identified as Hassana Sabiu and her daughter Qamariya Ismail have been arrested by the Katsina State Police command for the alleged killing of a new born, Sabiu’s grandchild.
According to the report gathered, 45-year-old Hassana Sabiu and her 25-year-old daughter, Qamariya Ismail, allegedly killed the newborn, born after an illicit pregnancy.
The Police command spokesperson, DSP Isah Gambo said that the mother and daughter were arrested after a dead female new born baby who was found inside a dust bin at Madugu House on Yahaya Madaki way.
After several investigations, the dead baby was linked to Qamariyya who was known to be pregnant as testified by her neighbours.
Upon interrogation, Qamariya was arrested and confessed that her mother, Hassana, who knew about her illicit pregnancy, helped in throwing the baby inside a garbage-can.
