Two Uber drivers who have been labelled to be specialists at robbing female victims of their valuables at gunpoint has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
According to the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Mohammed Sanusi, the drivers, Fosta Rufus, 30, and Franklin Jogbodo had made Lekki, Ajah and Victoria Island areas of Lagos their target pick up point.

According to reports, the suspects were accused of robbing their victims, mostly female, of valuables such as jewellery, expensive phones and cash.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, after parading the suspects at the Ikeja Command Headquarters, said the suspects sometimes would go with their victims to an ATM machine from where they would compel them to withdraw cash at gunpoint.
He said that the suspects have admitted being guilty of the crime levelled against them, admitting also, participation in three different robbery operations in the past.
“On one occasion the suspects collected the sum of N86,000 from their victim using her Access Bank ATM. They have both confessed to the crime.”

Edgal said that a KIA Rio with plate number BDG 376 EP was frequently used by the suspect in perpetrating the crime. He also revealed that two smartphones, a Samsung Galaxy 7 -Edge Plus and iPhone 6 plus, allegedly collected from their victims identified as Nancy Nzuegbo and Eze Chinonso were also recovered from the suspects.
Speaking on a new directive given to all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, the Lagos State Police boss said.
“I have also directed them to carry out constant raids of black spots. We hope to sustain the current low crime rate in the state”.

In his statement, Franklin denied ever robbing anybody, saying it was his friend, Fosta, who dragged him into the problem. He said he was the one who introduced Fosta into the Uber cab business.
“I met Fosta while working with UBA as a driver. I met him again sometime this year. I helped him to register as an Uber driver. It was him who collected the phones that were found on us from some ladies.
This is the second arrest of Uber drivers allegedly perpetrating crime in Lagos.
