The Imo state police command has arrested five suspected kidnappers in Enugu state after they kidnapped and sold children to the highest bidder.

According to reports, the gang of kidnappers reportedly attacked the mother of the children and stole them from her in Uzoagba in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo state.

The children were later taken to Enugu state where they were sold to a waiting buyer for the price of N1.1m.

The suspects arrested are Obinna Eze, Oluchi Chibuike,Vitalis Lumanze, Nkiru Nwanedu, Chinyere Nwudu and one Jacinta.

They were arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping and selling a five-year-old boy, Francis Nwachukwu and his two-year-old sibling, Chinaza Nwachukwu.

The police confirmed that the children were sold for N1.1m to one Nkiru Nwanedu after their mother was attacked and dumped inside the bush with the thought she had died.

According to the police, the only fleeing member of the gang, identified as Chinatu, would soon be arrested but for now thorough investigation is still ongoing.
