The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, which includes Ogun and Lagos state police command, Mr. Adamu Ibrahim, has assured the public on Monday that the parents of kidnapped school pupils in Epe will soon have their children back with them as all hands are on deck to free them.
AIG Ibrahim made this known while speaking with Newsmen after a closed-door meeting with the governor of Lagos state, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Speaking in Lagos state house in Ikeja he said.
“In fact, very soon, you will hear good news on the issue. We are working seriously on it. At this stage, I will not want to disclose too much because these are security issues but all I want to say is that people should give us a chance and very soon, they will hear good news.”
He said the police in Lagos and Ogun Commands were Green-ready and had been alerted to make the zone unbearable for criminal elements to carry out their nefarious activities, stressing that the police would build on the arrest of the notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, and arrest other criminals in the zone.
He stressed that: “People are, in fact, aware of what the Lagos State government is doing on security, which no other state is doing. So, all efforts are on to ensure that there is total peace in the state. Lagos is doing perfectly well in assisting security agencies to do their work and we must commend these efforts.”
AIG Ibrahim also appreciated the leadership of the Lagos State government, especially Governor Ambode’s, efforts at improving the security in the state.
